ANISINA (David Gilmour) in « The Endless River » (2014)  | Produced by David Gilmour, Youth, Andy Jackson, Phil Manzanera & Bob Ezrin

David Gilmour: piano, keyboards, acoustic guitar, electric rhythm and lead guitar, lap steel, bass, backing vocals; Nick Mason: Drums; Gilad Atzmon: Tenor sax, clarinet.

Anisina means « in memory of » in turkish

Phil Manzanera (Producer):

« I found a few tracks which sounded like songs without lyrics, one became Louder Than Words and one was Anisina. I always said, 'Please can you write some words for it' and I thought Polly was going to write for both, but once she'd written Louder Than Words and the concept of it then she decided there were no words needed.

Consequently Anisina needed something extra to it and so the saxophone came in, as a lament for Rick really. It's a friend of mine Gilad Atzmon who's played (sax) on some of my things and with Robert Wyatt. He's an Israeli saxophonist and a genius. People will know his playing because of Ian Dury's Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick .»

AUTUMN’ 68 (Richard Wright) • « The Endless River » (2014) | Produced by David Gilmour, Youth, Andy Jackson, Phil Manzanera & Bob Ezrin.

David Gilmour: Electric lead guitar; Rick Wright: Royal Albert Hall Grand organ; Nick Mason: Gong; Damon Iddins: Additional keyboards.

Phil Manzanera (Producer):

« They are recordings from the year 1993, when they played in a certain way. But it also contains recordings from 1968 on the great organ in the Royal Albert Hall. It was a challenge to integrate this tape into the musical wallpaper they had rolled up here. All in all, it's a very modern concept to mix different sources together. Almost like a DJ mix where everything is held together by the beat. This is possible thanks to modern technology. »

Andy Jackson (Sound engineer):

« We've used a minute and a half of the 20 minutes there. We gave it to Youth and selected a section »

This track  of the two titles of the album where Rick Wright didn’t appear although co-credited to the keyboardist. Gilmour had to re-record the piano and keyboards part because of the low-standard quality of the original tape. This song is a kind of sequel of the Division Bell’ Keep talking.

« Speech has allowed the communication of ideas, enabling human beings to work together to build the impossible

Mankind's greatest achievements have come about by talking

Our greatest hopes could become reality in the future, with the technology at our disposal, the possibilities are unbounded »

David Gilmour:

« There were about three, possibly four things we could have put songs on, but Ithink it si a better statement that there's just the one. Polly wrote these great words that sound like they come from me. Which si her view of the strange relationship that we have in this band. Which is not one of three great pals -or four great pals when Roger was apart of ti - but has this strange magic that occurs when we are together, and she thought that was avery interesting idea, to round off the whole album with this one statement of what we're like - or what Polly thinks we're like, which, to me, si ahundred per cent accurate.»

« The long goodbye », Mojo, December 2014.

We bitch and we fight

Diss each other on sight

But this thing we do

These times together

Rain or shine or stormy weather

This thing we do

With world-weary grace

We've taken our places

We could curse it or nurse it and give it a name

Or stay home by the fire, felled by desire

Stoking the flame

But we’re here for the ride

It's louder than words

This thing that we do

Louder than words

The way it unfurls

It's louder than words

The sum of our parts

The beat of our hearts

Is louder than words

Louder than words
