The Travel Section aka The Travel sequence (Gilmour, Waters, Wright, Mason/1972)

This piece replaced On the Run in the suite "The Dark Side of the Moon". It was an interplay between organ and guitar. The track was finally recorded at the end of 1973 (First to thisd of October)  to keep it in the can, even though the project to record household sounds fell through. Released in 2011 « The Dark Side Immersion » boxset.

The Mortality Section (Wright/1972)

This track replaced The great Gig in the Sky in the suite « The Dark Side of the Moon ». It was a long (and somewhat boring) chord progression, to which a tape featuring the sound of a woman orgasming and a preacher preaching was added. Some people think it's just a pre-version of The great Gig in the Sky, when in fact it's a completely different piece! It has to be said that the band often used similar working titles, making it difficult to distinguish between them.

During the recording of « The Dark Side of the Moon », the band realized they had to abandon this title, and so left a gap between Breathe (cover) and Money on the tape for a while. The rest of the band finally asked Wright to write something instrumental to fill the worrying gap. On June 25 1972, Wright wrote the basis for The great Gig in the Sky.

Scat Section (uncredited/1972)

This track replaced Any Colour you like on the 1972 live suite of « The Dark Side of the Moon ». Gilmour would play guitar solos and vocalize, like the final solo on Wish you were here. Sometimes, it was the backing singers who took part, foreshadowing the work on The great Gig in the Sky.

Careful with that Axe, Eugène (Remake) (Gilmour, Waters, Wright, Mason/1973)

On 14 December 1972, the band decides to re-record Careful with that Axe, Eugène live in Studio 2 of EMI Recording Studios. This track, who have been slightly changed in the last years will be part of the tape broadcast during the « Roland Petit show » in Paris, January 1973, since the band can’t be avalaible for more gigs.
