SPARE BRICKS (1982)

As part of the funding for the film Pink Floyd The Wall, the band agreed to provide a soundtrack for the film, at a time when their soundtracks were rocketing up the charts ("Grease" and especially "Saturday Night Fever" are still among the biggest-selling records of all time). So Waters, Gilmour, Kamen and Guthrie went into the studio in June 1981 to work on the songs that would be used in the film.

When they returned to the studio to put together the soundtrack, scheduled for release on 31 August 1982 under the title "The Final Cut", the project was finally abandoned because of the lack of interest in the project (Waters found certain tracks, such as Mother, too boring on record).

At one point, the bassist decided to keep only the most interesting tracks and to add a few previously unreleased ones such as You possible Past,Teach (future One of the few) or Teacher, teacher (The Hero's return). The unreleased tracks from this era are listed here.

But the musician decided to plunge back into composing a new album, which nevertheless kept its original title.
