Two days ago, I emailed them and said, «C’mon, it’s time. They just 

emailed me back and said, «Fine by me». We had been sort of talking – «Should we get united on this?»I was really happy that Dave and Nick joined me on this, to be finally  united with them, taking this stance.

«How much input did you have in the new Floyd box set ?»

This had been going on for a couple of years, because of the exhibition that is going to to be at the V&A. It took a certain amount of persuasion to get some of the boys to accept their mortal remains [grins]. I haven’t taken much interest in the box set, except they all came to me a few months ago and said, “What the fuck are we gonna call this shit?” I came up with this “/ation” thing for the discs – “Germin/ation,” “Dramatis/ation.” I love the first one, from 1965-1967, “Cambridge St/ation.”

There is a bonus thing, “Continu/ation” [of BBC sessions and rare soundtrack recordings]. That was not my idea. I suggested “Petrific/ation,” “Masturb/ation,” almost anything else. “Continu/ation” is so lame. But whatever. This has nothing to do with me. It’s not for me. It’s for people who care. If people want it, I’ve got nothing against it. It’s cool

I was really pleasantly surprised by Saucerful of Secrets. I really 

enjoyed it, and obviously I love Nick. He’s a very old friend, and luckily all those bridges have been rebuilt. 

We see each other often, and I adore him. The atmosphere that night was wonderful, and I couldn’t have been happier than to be allowed to share the stage and sing one of my songs with that band. Guy Pratt was great singing and playing the guitar. He knows a lot about it all having worked for Gilmour for all those years. And I thought Nick sounded great. And the other guys were really splendid

I wish he’d let me advertise this movie on the Pink Floyd website. It’s not allowed. He censored it, and I’m not allowed to announce anything on it.

I bet all Pink Floyd fans are sorry to hear that. They all hoped that we could kiss and make up and everything would be wonderful in a cozy, wonderful world. Well, it wouldn’t be all that cozy or wonderful for me,  because I left Pink Floyd in 1985 for a reason. The reason being that I wanted to get on with my work

David Gilmour thinks because I left the band in 1985, he is Pink Floyd 

and he owns Pink Floyd and I am irrelevant and should keep my mouth shut. This is wrong. We should rise up... or just change the name of th band to Spinal Tap

These mixes have languished unreleased because of a dispute over some sleeve notes that [journalist] Mark Blake has written for this new release

Gilmour has vetoed the release of the album unless these liner notes are removed. He does not dispute the veracity of the history described in Mark’s notes,  but he wants that history to remain secret. I am agreeing to the release of the new Animals remix, with the sleeve notes removed. Good work James Guthrie by the way, 

and sorry Mark Blake. The final draft of the liner notes was fact checked and agreed as factually correct by me, Nick and Gilmour.

I listened to it, yes. I don't agree with their approach. There's a fire, 

people are dying and this is pouring oil on the fire. All this waving of blue and yellow flags is not doing anyone any good. The only important thing about Ukraine at the moment is to stop the ongoing war. (...) In the West, we see nothing but this evil tyrant Vladimir Putin - which he is. But the West is not a wonderful camp full of love for freedom and democracy

I have seen the video and I am not surprised, but I find it really, really sad. It’s so alien to me, this action is so lacking in humanity. It encourages the continuation of the war. Pink Floyd is a name I used to be associated with. That was a huge time in my life, a very big deal. To associate that name now with something like this… proxy war makes me sad. I mean, they haven’t made the point of demanding, “Stop the war, stop the slaughter, bring our leaders together to talk!” It’s just this content-less waving of the blue and yellow flag. I wrote in one of my letters to the Ukrainian teenager Alina: I will not raise a flag in this conflict, not a Ukrainian flag, not a Russian flag, not a US flag.
